In chapter 8 Patria starts to having bad things happen to her. Patria has had a hard life, her loosing her baby. Also her son coming home drunk and he is only 17. Patria has one more baby and goes and talks to the priest. There were also a lot of conflicts, Minerva and her husband have a child. by the time we hear about the baby he is already six months old, and Minerva asks Patria to take care of the baby. Patria leaves the child with the sisters mother because she is going on a trip with her church to Constanza. While they are in the church, bombs start blowing up and a group of men dressed up in camo come running into the church. One of the men die in front of Patria. I think the whole church being bombed and her getting a feeling that the man that died in front of her was her son was the reason for her join the resistance. At the end of this chapter it was by far one of the most action packed chapters out of the entire book.

Is the multiple voice technique effective as a storytelling device for this novel? Why or why not? Feel free to reference or quote from any chapter, not just chapter 7.I think that the multiple voice technique is very effective as a storytelling. It helps because your not just listening to the same voice over and over each chapter is a different charters side. Also helps tell the sisters side of the story because they are never over lapping each other say the same thing so it helps keep the book moving forward. Its also helps the moments that something is about to happen but it switches sisters and keep you on your toes. I think this is a really attention grabbing way to tell the story.
Explain the symbolism of the multiple rain storms in this chapter. In the chapter 6 things start to go downhill for Minerva as she meets her Fathers other family. Minerva gets angry at lio for not saying goodbye when he leaves but her if her dad didst keep the letters away from her she then would have understood. Minerva then is looking around and comes across three letters from lio. Minerva then confronts her father and he says he did it to protect her. I think the main symbolism of all the rain in the chapter is to show that things are starting to go downhill. Minerva goes to his party and leaves and Trujillo kidnaps her father and tells Minerva the only way to free him is for Minerva to sleep with him. I think this is another reason this symbolism the reason of the rain.
